Amy is a precious long awaited for kitty!
She is our first silver tabby Exotic girl who is nice enough to keep in our
breeding program. Visit Gloria's Nursery March 2007 to see baby
pictures of her & her littermates.
It's been almost three years since the plans began to form in building
our breeding program. Amy is proof that purrsistence pays off!

Amy has a wonderful personality. She is always ready to play with the
little kids and cuddle up with someone for a nap.
Amy has beautiful, big, round eyes and a nice round head.
We are excited to see how she develops!

Amy's name comes from an olde Christian song favorite.
There's also a modern version, Grace Like Rain, by Todd Agnew, that
can be heard on KLOVE radio.

Breeding Basics

=^o.o^=
Amy-G is heterozygous for shorthair
since her mom is a longhair.
She has 1 gene for shorthair.

=^o.o^=
Amy-G is a silver tabby.
Since she is silver, she carries at least
one copy of the inhibitor gene.
Both of her parents are silver, so she
might carry 2 copies of the inhibitor
gene. Only a DNA test (currently not
available) can prove 1 or 2 genes. Or,
if she produces a non-silver kitten, it
would prove she only carries 1 gene.
If she only produces silver kittens, that
will not "prove" she carries 2 genes.
Amy-G has at least 1 inhibitor gene.

Since Amy shows (or expresses) her
tabby pattern, she carries at least one
copy of the agouti gene. She is an
agouti tabby or a true tabby.
Since both of her parents are tabbies,
she might carry 2 copies of the agouti
gene. A DNA test (available) can
prove 1 or 2 genes. Or if she ever
produces a non-tabby kitten, it would
prove she only carries 1 gene.
If she only produces tabby kittens, that
will not "prove" she carries 2 genes.
Update...Amy has 1 agouti gene since
she produced a smoke kitten.

Amy may be homozygous for the
dominant color because both of her
parents are dominant colors
(black silver tabbies).
But, both her parents carry the dilute
gene, so she could carry it as well.
Time will tell..........
