odd-eyed white Exotic female

"Marie"
is a sweet treat for us! White is one of those
colors that Exotics wear so well...and Marie
wears it so sweet!
She has a magnificent head structure, large, well
placed eyes with outstanding color. She has a
heavy, well balanced body and a lovely sweet
expression.
Marie is one of those cats that is such a
character! She loves to play chase and try to
catch the sun-catcher reflections on the wall.
Her favorite place to sleep at night is on my head.

Breeding Basics

=^o.o^=
Marie is unique in her genetic color
make-up because she is a white.
White cats carry or "mask" their true
color. It's like the cat is wearing a
white lab coat over its clothes/colors.

Marie's father masks red, so I know
that she has at least one red gene.
Marie's mother masks tortoiseshell
(black and red), so I know Marie either
has a black gene or a red gene from
mom.
Marie's father's father is a black &
white, so her father COULD mask red
and white. There is no way to tell for
certain unless he produced a bi-color
kitten from a solid color female...then
we would know he IS bi-color. Even if
he never produced a bi-color kitten
from a solid, we don't know if his
WHITE offspring may mask bi-color.

So...
Marie's possible colors could be...
red; red & white;
cream; cream & white
tortoiseshell; calico;
blue-cream; dilute calico.

The only way to find out is through a
DNA test (doesn't exist yet) or through
the colors of her offspring.
If she has a black son (or black
daughter when bred to a black sire), I'll
know she carries the black color.
If she has a bi-color kitten when bred
to a solid sire, I'll know she carries
bi-color.
The tricky part is the white offspring!

Marie is heterozygous for the shorthair
gene since her mother is a Persian.
She has 1 shorthair gene and
1 longhair gene.
