| Links People First of Oregon "We want others to know that we are people first, and our disabilities come second" * Eugenics Articles....Oregon This is an extremely sensitive subject that raises deep, strong emotions. But every time I hear someone say a certain group of people "shouldn't be allowed to have children", be it criminals, the poor, the disabled, whoever, I remember a documentary I saw on Eugenics. It left a strong impression on me. Then, when I went to college at California State University, Stanislaus, they opened a satelite campus at the old Stockton State Mental hospital. They practiced forced sterilization on the patients there back in the 50s. It was quite sobering to walk those same halls and sit in classrooms once used as common rooms. I am simply asking you to educate yourself about the topic. Be wise about the sources you investigate, there is some propaganda out there. But understand, that this happened in our country, the USA, the land of the FREE. I ask you, where do we draw the line?
