| "Gloria" silver tabby Persian female father PKD DNA neg mother's parents PKD DNA neg Gloria came to us from Michelle and Christine of Pouncing Paws Cattery in Canada. She is a gorgeous girl with a well-balanced body. She has big eyes and a cute expression. A lovely girl with a nice pattern. Gloria has the sweetest, most gentle personality. She is very dainty and loves to cuddle & purr. Thank You Michelle and Christine! I believe that God blesses me with my cats. Being able to enjoy my hobby is His way of giving me gifts. Whenever I can, I want to glorify the Lord with my kitties. Gloria is such a beautiful, sweet angel, I thought "Glory Cloud" was a fitting name. In the bible, God's presence is sometimes manifested in a Cloud of Glory. Naming my girl "Glory Cloud" reminds me that Jesus is my Risen Savior. |

| Breeding Basics =^o.o^= Gloria's basic color is black and she is heterozygous for the dilute gene. We know this two ways... Her father is a blue, a dilute color. She also had a blue silver tabby kitten. She has 1 gene for dilute. =^o.o^= Since Gloria is a Persian and is longhaired, she is homozygous for long hair, a recessive trait. She has 2 genes for long hair. =^o.o^= Gloria is heterozygous for the silver inhibitor gene. We know this two ways: her father is a blue (non-silver) so he could not contribute a silver gene. Also, she had a brown tabby kitten, which proves she does not have 2 copies of the inhibitor gene. She has 1 inhibitor gene. =^o.o^= Gloria MAY be homozygous for the agouti gene. She has only produced tabby kittens. Also, she is out of 2 tabbies, so she could have gotten a tabby gene from each parent. We won't know until she has a non-tabby kitten to disprove her being homozygous, or I do a DNA test to find out for certain. Interestingly, Gloria's father (Jubileum KingPin), a blue tabby-white, is out of 2 non-tabbies. His mother does not have tabby close up in her pedigree. His father (Primadowdy M.V.P.) is registered as a cream-white. His father (Primadowdy's Yogi Berra) is a cream tabby-white out of a brown patched tabby-white (Semeion's Kewpie Doll). Since the agouti gene is dominant, it has to be present in a parent (one parent has to be a tabby) in order for the offspring to be a tabby.... so.... My theory is that Primadowdy M.V.P. is actually an agouti cream tabby-white. His father, Primadowdy's Yogi Berra is also an agouti tabby (this is where M.V.P. would have gotten the agouti gene from). =^o.o^= . |
